For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing, such as a rash guard or T-shirt and athletic shorts or leggings. We recommend bringing a water bottle and a pair of shoes you can slip off and on easily for getting on and off the mats.
No, all experience levels are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. Our Fundamentals class is designed for beginners to learn in a welcoming, novice-friendly environment.
No, there is no prerequisite fitness level. We often hear people say they will start when they get in better shape, but jiu-jitsu can help you get physically fit while learning the art. Don’t let your fitness level hold you back.
Your safety is paramount. If you have any pre-existing injuries or health concerns, please consult your healthcare provider before starting jiu-jitsu.
Please inform our instructors about any existing conditions, and they will work with you to modify techniques or exercises as needed to ensure a safe training experience.
No, competition is not a requirement.
We do have members who compete in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, combatives, and mixed martial arts events; however, the amount of people who compete make up a small percentage of our membership. While we do feel that competition does have many positive benefits, we understand that it is not for everyone. We just want you to enjoy the arts without putting pressure on yourself.
Our mats and equipment undergo regular cleaning and sanitization. We use high-quality cleaning products to disinfect mats and commonly touched surfaces. Additionally, antibacterial wipes and sprays are available for use.
Of course! If you feel more comfortable seeing what our classes are like before participating, feel free to come watch first. We have benches alongside the mat and a sitting area with a couch and stools where you can comfortably observe a class. On the other hand, if you would like to try a class on your first visit, you are welcome to do that as well. Join whenever you feel ready.
The first class is free and then cost will depend on a number of factors such as how often you want to train, payment frequency (e.g. monthly, yearly), payment method, etc. Please contact us to discuss our membership options.
